Dr. Pekar received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Windsor. In 1983 he received his doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of Western Ontario in London & set up practice in Welland. Five years later Dr. Pekar started practice in St. Catharines. He has served as president of the Welland / Port Colborne dental society as well as the St. Catharines dental society.

Dr. Pekar has been a lifelong member of the Ontario Dental Association & the Canadian Dental Association. His commitment to continuing education includes extensive training in endodontic at Boston University & occlusion & reconstructive techniques at the prestigious Pankey Institute.

Laser
In 1989, Dr. Pekar was one of a handful of dentists pioneering the use of dental lasers. He has lectured extensively using original material & is the longest standing laser dentist in Canada. His extensive experience with different wavelengths of lasers has allowed  him to use these technologies in a very time efficient manner & is often asked to consult with other dentists. He is a founder of the International Academy of Laser Dentistry & held a research associate position with the University of Connecticut for 4 years.

Solarc
In 1989, Dr. Pekar began a collaborative research project with Jane Mitchell, Msc. Physiotherapist, Phd. Anatomy student, into the relationship of posture & jaw joint function. This research lead to the creation of the Solarc Posture Alignment Program. A shoe insert that holds the tendons, ligaments & bones of the feet in optimum position produces a foundation & stability that follows upward to the head. This leads to greater comfort at work & at play. This program has been patented in 26 countries & has been successfully marketed throughout North America & Europe.
