Karl is a soft spoken grandfather with an alert mind and
a witty sense of humour. He is proud of the fact that he
has remained in good health by maintaining an active
lifestyle. He has balanced his nutrition with the help
of his wife Francis of 57 years and kept his weight
constant for the past 40 years. Most treasured is a
complete set of lower natural teeth. And it’s not
surprising when you know that he is 82 years of age.
Today, you wouldn’t realize his top teeth have been a
problem, for he now has implant supported teeth that
look natural and has maintained his confidence to
socialize with friends and family. Karl is a retired
farmer who has taken excellent care of himself, but the
process of aging had caused the last upper teeth to be
removed. “He was not enjoying the quality of life he
still wanted and wasn’t able to interact and socialize
with people with confidence.” Says Dr. Pekar, the family
dentist. Until recently the preferred option was to have
conventional dental implants, which would anchor a
partial denture and look very much like his own teeth.
Only four to six conventional implants would be needed
to stabilize the partial denture. This would entail
several visits including 4 to 6 months healing time. Due
to some recently stabilized health concerns it was
decided, Karl would be a candidate for teeth in a day
mini dental implants. A one hour minimally invasive
procedure was performed without scalpel or sutures. The
partial denture was stabilized the same day. The biggest
advantage for Karl was avoiding a bone graft from the
hip. This would have required hospital surgery and
significant recovery time for both the mouth and hip
before his new smile could be started. New CT Scan
technologies allow us to customize the care we provide
for individual clients needs. It was a simple procedure,
says Karl and one he is delighted with. On the day of
placement, he was able to cope well. Since the implants
have been installed, Karl has had “no problems at all,”
he says, with a big smile to prove his point. “Implants
mean you don’t have to live with the embarrassment,
discomfort and inconvenience caused by damaged, missing
or poorly shaped teeth,” Dr. Pekar points out. “They
also do away with problems often caused by loose
dentures, such as sores, facial aches and clicking that
hinders speaking and eating. Mother Nature creates the
finest design manufacture and install of a complex
chewing eating system. We cannot replace but can come
very close.” The procedure is quick, done in a day or
even several hours and it works well for single or
multiple teeth. Dental implants give security, comfort
and the appearance of permanent teeth. If this type of
need exists for you, please discuss this with your care
provider or call us to see if you are a candidate for
teeth in a day.
